Imaging in one of the world's strongest magnetic fields: tour of the 7 Tesla MRI
Workshop Leader: Prof. dr. A. Webb
Department: High Field Magnetic Resonance Center, Leiden University Medical Center
The LUMC houses one of the highest field magnets (7 Tesla) in the world which is used for basic research and clinical applications in magnetic resonance imaging. The research team consists of chemists, physicist, physiologists, medical students, medical interns and clinicians.
The tour will include on-site practical demonstrations of the 7 Tesla magnet, a short overview of the basics of MRI, and a description of the medically-related work that links basic science and engineering with clinical applications in neurodegenerative diseases, cardiology and musculoskeletal conditions.
